Since the early architectures of the Modern Movement lightness has become one of the most researched aspects in the world of architectural design. The technological developments that have made it possible to use glass and steel in new ways have contributed to a large extent to the development of plays with light capable of eliminating the heaviness of the material.
As this issue of Materia demonstrates, this has today led to a level of experimentation aimed at dematerializing the material to the point of apparently challenging the very laws inherent in its nature.
